Make no mistake, this is not a Beat band in the English Beat sense. Los Angeles’ Beat Killers are an out-and-out garage punk band with such influences as the Stooges, MC5 and The Swinging Neckbreakers. The music is fast, aggressive and melodic with good, strong vocals. Of relatively current bands, they most remind me of the Seattle band The Makers, but with the addition of a farfisa/organ to the mix. The Beat Killers are relentless.
